As we all know, the year 2020 brought the COVID-19 pandemic and with it, an end to in-person professional conferences. One of the conferences most helpful to our staff is the Annual Meeting of the Mid-America Association of Law Libraries (MAALL).
From 2020 to 2023, the MAALL Annual Meeting carried on, but only in a virtual format. There were many inspiring sessions at these meetings, but something was lost in not being able to connect in person.
Thankfully, 2023 brings the return of the in-person MAALL Annual Meeting. Law librarians from throughout the Midwest will convene at Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa from October 12-14. There will be sessions on topics including Legal Research Instruction for the Future, Law Library Marketing, DEI Initiatives and more. There will also be opportunities to network at the conference reception and dine-arounds, to view vendor demonstrations and to pick up conference swag.
LLASTL Library Director Gail Wechsler and Reference Librarian Sherry Taylor will be travelling to Des Moines for the MAALL Annual Meeting. They will bring back what they learned to help serve all of you better!
