FEBRUARY PROGRAM: Elimination of Bias in Your Law Firm/Law Practice Regarding Attorneys with Disabilities: How to be a Disability Ally

This program will focus on the impact of ableism and on inclusive actions and language and policies that lawyers and law firms can take to eliminate bias in their workplaces against those with disabilities. 

Our presenters are Katie Fields, Casey Gagliardi and Kevin Barnes.

Katie Fields is Disability Inclusion Consultant and Interim Director of Programs at the Starkloff Disability Institute. Drawing from her lived experience with multiple invisible disabilities, she brings both personal insight and professional expertise to her work. Katie holds degrees in Business Administration and Management from Webster University. She has educated thousands of individuals on disability allyship and accessible workspaces.

Casey Gagliardi is a Disability Inclusion Consultant at Starkloff Disability Institute. She has an undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, where she co-founded an award-winning disabled student organization, and a Masters Degree from The Ohio State University. Through her work, she emphasizes the importance of empathy, openness, and growth. She is passionate about advancing disability inclusion across fields and industries.

Kevin Barnes, Esq. is a graduate of Columbia University School of Law in New York City.  Kevin has practiced public interest law as well as having served as In-House Counsel for two Fortune 500 companies. He also has worked in private practice.  In 2018 Kevin was diagnosed with a neurological disorder that affects his muscles; he learned to adapt to the changes that the situation brought.  He later realized that he has had invisible disabilities since childhood. He will share his experiences as a practicing attorney with disabilities.  

Qualifies for 1.2 MO Bar Elimination of Bias CLE credits. It runs from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. This is a virtual program.
